🤟🏼✌🏼Still in the raw makings but I am working on an American Sign Language collection. Heavily inspired by the most beautiful language in the world 🌎. I majored in Deaf Studies when I went to school back in the day. I love it almost as much as metalsmithing(it’s pretty dang close competing with each other 🤭). Signing truly is a passion of mine. A few weeks ago I thought of this idea, sand casting these unique hands...and so happy it is coming to life! Sand casting something like this is not easy but I got it down 🥳. After I started on this collection, come to find out a family that lives behind us are deaf. We signed for about 20 minutes the other week at a neighborhood party and I came home so happy. Honestly it made me want to cry, I had forgotten how much I love ASL...I just had no one to sign with in YEARS. SO that being said I downloaded some apps to refresh my memory. I also plan to teach my children ASL. I did teach them a few signs when they were babies, they still use them without even knowing it 😁. I’m very excited to start teaching my kids...because there are usually a few kids in school hard of hearing or deaf in many elementary schools, this would give them the opportunity to be friends! The culture is unique and beautiful... I hope you all love what’s to come!
